Intimate Rehearsal Dinner at The Waters in Oshkosh
Some wedding weekends are filled with grand celebrations, while others begin with something a little quieter, a chance to slow down, gather with the people who mean the most, and soak in the excitement before the big day.
That was exactly the feeling Bridget and Tyler created for their rehearsal dinner at The Waters in Oshkosh.
On a beautiful June evening, family and the wedding party gathered on the back porch of The Waters overlooking Lake Winnebago for an intimate rehearsal dinner before welcoming all of their out-of-town guests to a lakeside welcome reception later that evening. Every detail reflected their timeless style and set the tone for the elegant wedding weekend ahead.
A Romantic Lakeside Setting
The back porch at The Waters provided the perfect backdrop for a classic rehearsal dinner. With panoramic views of Lake Winnebago and the warmth of an early June evening, guests gathered around one long table designed to encourage conversation, connection, and celebration.
Bridget's vision was understated elegance, an all-white palette that felt soft, romantic, and effortlessly timeless. Every layer of the table was intentionally selected to add texture rather than color. Embroidered Nuage linens, lace-trimmed white napkins, lush white florals, glowing candlelight, and silver accents came together to create a tablescape that felt elevated while allowing the breathtaking views of the lake to remain the star of the evening.
To bring her vision to life, I sourced embroidered Nuage linens that added subtle texture beneath each place setting. White chargers were layered with delicate lace-trimmed napkins, while personalized place cards welcomed each guest to the table.
Lush floral arrangements by House of Flowers featured white roses, peonies, greenery, and seasonal blooms arranged both in larger centerpieces and throughout the table in the bride's own collection of bud vases. Silver candelabras and mercury glass votives added warmth as the evening progressed, creating a soft glow that made the entire tablescape feel even more romantic.
An Italian-Inspired Dinner Before an Italian Honeymoon
One of my favorite details from the evening was the menu.
Knowing they would soon be traveling to Italy for their honeymoon, Bridget and Tyler chose an Italian-inspired dinner catered by Zuppas that gave guests a little preview of the adventure ahead.
Dinner began with Caesar salad topped with tomatoes, Kalamata olives, Parmesan, and croutons, accompanied by warm garlic bread and a selection of red and white wines. Guests then enjoyed comforting Italian favorites including Chicken Alfredo, classic meat lasagna, and vegetable rigatoni primavera with asparagus, bell peppers, yellow squash, cherry tomatoes, vodka tomato sauce, fresh basil, and Parmesan.
Dessert featured an assortment of miniature Italian-inspired sweets, including Amaretto crème brûlée, cannoli cheesecake with mascarpone, chocolate chips, and a crushed cannoli shell crust, along with classic Italian ricotta cheesecake topped with fresh berries.
It was a thoughtful way to personalize the evening while celebrating the adventure that awaited them after the wedding.
The Moments That Matter Most
While the design created a beautiful setting, my favorite memory from the evening wasn't the décor.
During dinner, Bridget stood to thank everyone who had traveled to celebrate with them. As she spoke, Tyler looked at her with complete admiration. It was one of those quiet, genuine moments that perfectly reflected their relationship.
As high school sweethearts from Neenah who now call Chicago home, they have shared years of milestones together. Watching them surrounded by the family and friends who have supported them throughout that journey made the evening feel especially meaningful.
After dinner, guests lingered by the lake, enjoying the beautiful June evening while Bridget and Tyler's photographer captured relaxed portraits along the waterfront before everyone transitioned into the welcome reception.
Behind the Scenes
One of my favorite parts of planning rehearsal dinners is that they often feel even more personal than the wedding day itself.
For Bridget and Tyler's rehearsal dinner, I worked closely with The Waters, House of Flowers, and Zuppas to coordinate the evening's logistics while styling the tablescape on-site to ensure every detail came together exactly as envisioned.
From sourcing the embroidered Nuage linens to styling each place setting and coordinating with the venue, florist, and catering team, every detail was thoughtfully planned so Bridget and Tyler could simply enjoy the evening with the people they love most before the excitement of their wedding day.
