A Spring Wedding at Fête of Wales
Jaelin + Alex | May 9, 2026 | Fête, inc. | Wales, Wisconsin
As a Wisconsin wedding planner, I have the privilege of helping couples create wedding days that feel personal, organized, and completely centered on what matters most. Jaelin and Alex's Fête of Wales wedding in Wales, Wisconsin, just outside of Milwaukee, was one of those celebrations that perfectly balanced thoughtful details with an incredible dance floor. From a heartfelt outdoor ceremony to one of the most memorable father-of-the-bride speeches I've ever heard, every part of their day reflected the joy of celebrating alongside the people they love.
Getting Ready at Fête of Wales
One of the things I love most about planning a Fête of Wales wedding is that the venue was designed with both couples and guests in mind. Tucked away on a private 13-acre property in Wales, it feels secluded and peaceful while still being only minutes from nearby hotels, restaurants, and other conveniences. It's the best of both worlds, giving couples the feeling of escaping the city while making it easy for guests to enjoy the celebration.
The day began with everyone getting ready on site, which is one of my favorite parts about working at Fête, inc. The bridal suite is bright, airy, and filled with natural light, making it the perfect space for hair, makeup, and those quiet moments before getting dressed. Across the venue, the groom's suite offers its own private patio, a pool table, dartboard, TVs, and plenty of space to relax before the celebration begins.
While Jaelin and Alex spent the morning with their closest family and friends, my team and I immediately got to work setting up their personal décor throughout the reception space. Their design was timeless and understated with crisp white florals, dozens of bud vases, candlelight, white floor-length linens, and soft sage green napkins that complemented the bridesmaids' satin dresses beautifully.
As vendors began arriving throughout the morning, we coordinated everyone's arrival, answered questions behind the scenes, and made sure everything was coming together exactly as planned. We even had time to capture a few behind-the-scenes moments for Jaelin and Alex to look back on after the wedding.
Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at Fête of Wales
One of the reasons couples are drawn to a Fête of Wales wedding is the ceremony location. Surrounded by mature oak trees, prairie grasses, and peaceful pond views, it offers a beautiful natural backdrop that feels secluded while still being close to Milwaukee.
Their outdoor ceremony couldn't have landed on a more beautiful May day. Sunshine, warm temperatures, and fresh spring greenery created the perfect setting, although the wind certainly kept us on our toes.
A few décor elements needed to be repositioned throughout the afternoon, but that's exactly why having an experienced planner matters. My team and I quickly adjusted floral pieces as conditions changed so everything still looked beautiful when guests arrived.
One of my favorite moments came just before the ceremony.
Jaelin's nephew, who was not quite two years old, made his way down the aisle in a miniature Power Wheels car that was secretly guided by remote control. It was absolutely adorable and had every guest smiling before the ceremony even began. Even sweeter, the officiant was Jaelin's brother-in-law, making the ceremony feel incredibly personal for both families.
Family Portraits and Thoughtful Moments
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour while family and wedding party portraits took place around the property. Thanks to the beautiful landscaping and shaded areas surrounding Fête, we were able to keep everyone comfortable while creating timeless portraits.
One detail that quietly stood out during the reception was an empty seat at the head table honoring a loved one Alex had lost. It was such a thoughtful way to acknowledge someone who couldn't physically be there while still making them part of the celebration.
Fun Fête of Wales Wedding Reception
Instead of introducing each pair individually, the entire wedding party ran into the reception together before welcoming Jaelin and Alex into the room. It immediately set the tone for the evening and matched their fun, energetic personalities perfectly.
Dinner was served buffet-style by Bubb's BBQ, and I have to say, it was some of the best wedding barbecue I've had in a long time.
Before opening the dance floor, the couple stepped away for a private cake cutting. Rather than simply cutting the cake, they embraced a new tradition by placing birthday candles on top, blowing them out together, and making a wish for their marriage. It was simple, meaningful, and one of those little moments they'll always remember.
Reception toasts followed dinner, and Jaelin's father gave what was, without question, one of the most moving wedding speeches I've ever witnessed.
Drawing from his career working with families through loss, he spoke so beautifully about appreciating the time we're given with the people we love. The room was completely captivated. It was one of those speeches that reminds you exactly why weddings are so meaningful in the first place.
After toasts, Jaelin and Alex snuck away for sunset portraits before returning for their formal dances and officially opening the dance floor.
A Celebration That Never Left the Dance Floor
If there was one thing that defined this wedding, it was the energy.
Jaelin and Alex genuinely love to dance, and they spent nearly the entire evening out on the dance floor surrounded by family and friends. That excitement was contagious, and before long nearly every guest had joined them.
While everyone celebrated, my team and I quietly worked behind the scenes, bustling Jaelin's dress, packing every personal décor item, and loading everything into vehicles throughout the evening.
Throughout the day, I found myself doing what wedding planners do best, constantly moving behind the scenes. Whether it was fine-tuning the reception setup, making sure every centerpiece and chair was exactly where Jaelin envisioned it, coordinating vendors, or capturing behind-the-scenes content for the couple, my focus was always on allowing them to stay fully present while everything else was taken care of.
Fête has a fairly quick turnaround at the end of the night, especially for larger weddings like this one with more than 200 guests. By taking care of teardown during the reception, we ensured everything was packed and ready to go before the evening ended.
That's always the experience I hope to create for every couple I work with. By the end of the night, Jaelin and Alex were able to step onto the shuttle, head to their after-party with family and friends, and simply enjoy being newly married. Meanwhile, my team and I made sure every décor item was packed, loaded, and ready to go. It's one of my favorite parts of this job, giving my couples the freedom to stay fully present while I take care of everything happening behind the scenes.
